    Beloit College Museums seeks 3 – 5 Museum Attendants for Fall 2016 to work at both the Wright Museum of Art and the Logan Museum of Anthropology. Museum Attendants are responsible for welcoming visitors to the Museum by giving information regarding the exhibits, the college, and the city of Beloit.  Attendants are required to safe guard the Museum, as well alert staff to objects on display, lights, and other museums matters needing attention.  Regularly, Attendants are asked to assist with a variety of museum, office, and secretarial duties.

    The Opportunity:

    Ever wonder what happens behind the scenes of a museum? This is your opportunity to learn the day-to-day operations of Beloit College’s two prestigious museums. As part of being a Museum Attendant, you will have the chance to spend quality time with artifacts that pre-date the arrival of Columbus in the New World and paintings that have helped shape and expose the human psyche. Not only will you serve at the face of the museums to the public but also serve as docent, an educated guide into our shared cultural heritage.

    The Logan Museum of Anthropology is a teaching museum that engages the Beloit College community in learning about the world’s cultures, anthropology, and museology. Through our collections and programs we foster the integration of knowledge and experience to enrich liberal learning.

    As a teaching museum, the mission of the Wright Museum of Art advances the educational goals of Beloit College.  Our principal purpose is to provide the college and local community with diverse opportunities to appreciate, interact with, and understand the visual arts through exhibitions, collections, and programming. The Wright promotes experiential learning through an engagement with art that is both visual and tactile. It also endeavors to promote a critical reading of art as it shapes our cultural and intellectual history.

    Desired Skills & Experience:

    • Ability to communicate in a concise and effective manner, both verbally and in writing.
    • Detail oriented with strong organizational skills
    • Some knowledge of Microsoft Word & Excel, Mail Chimp, Facebook
    • A clean neat appearance, and enthusiasm to work and overall positive attitude
    • Ability to understand and follow written instructions
    • Must have a strong sense of responsibility and dependability
