The Professional Staff

The Professional Staff (Director, Assistant Director, Residence Life Coordinators) work with students on issues and concerns involving living on campus and eating in the dining hall. They provide opportunities for learning and growth through programs, activities and student interactions created through positive hall environments. • Social issues (not making friends, not feeling connected peer pressure, what to do in Beloit, Outreach Center opportunities)
  • Academic issues (not going to class, lack of motivation, study strategies in residence halls)
  • Behavior management/discipline (irresponsible alcohol use, vandalism, drug abuse, violence, policy violations)
  • Crisis intervention (personal injury, fire, severe weather, violence)
  • Referral to campus resources (campus counselor, Health & Wellness Center, Learning Support Services, Career Services in the Liberal Arts in Practice Center, World Affairs Center)
  • Drug and alcohol education programming (substance free events, educational information)
  • Multicultural Education
  • Community Service Opportunities (off campus experiences and on campus tutoring.)

Kareem Attia

Residence Life Coordinator

Kareem began working for Residential Life in August 2018 as a Residence Life Coordinator. Kareem is originally from Newport Beach, CA and truly is a beach bum: his favorite hobbies include surfing, tanning on the beach, and building sand castles. He received his BS in Theatre, where he specialized in Costume Design, from Northern Arizona University.

During his time at NAU, he also served as an RA for most of his time there(among many other roles). Kareem has also volunteered for 8 years at the life-changing organization RAD (Rising Above Disabilities) Camp which offers awesome programs and camps for adults and children with developmental disabilities. Before Beloit, he worked for The University of Chicago and New Mexico Tech in Residence Life positions.

He is excited to work with the amazingly unique students at Beloit, and is stoked to also be working Student Engagement and Leadership (SEAL) as his collateral assignment. When Kareem is not in his office, you can often find him perfecting his costume design technique, enjoying quality time with his friends, and going on adventures of all sorts.

Maggie Bell

Residence Life Coordinator and BeloitADE Coordinator

Maggie joined the residence life team in July of 2017 as a hall director. A proud Midwest girl, she was born and raised in Monmouth, IL, but she ventured up to Beloit after earning her B.A. in Sociology and Linguistics from Grinnell College.  Here, Maggie works with our Greek Life and Alcohol and Drug Education programs. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, binge-watching Netflix, and crafting. A few of her favorite things are lipstick, Jesus, and coffee, but not necessarily in that order.

Elise Bottensek

Office Coordinator

Elise officially joined the Res Life family in March of 2012 as the Office Coordinator.  She loves spending time with her family to go letterboxing and on hiking trips to Devil's Lake and Starved Rock.  She belongs to a (greeting) card-making club, plays Bunco, and enjoys working in her yard.

Jewel Morrison

Residence Life Coordinator

Jewel became part of the Residence Life team in August, 2018, working as a Residence Life Coordinator. She was born and raised in Florida, but moved to Beloit after earning her B.A. in Psychology from New College of Florida. Jewel is excited to be working with both the Health and Wellness Center and Athletics as her two collateral assignments. She loves cats, ice cream, and cold weather. When not working, Jewel enjoys exercising, listening to music, hanging out with friends, and watching anime.
