Ginsberg Family Artist-in-Residence Program

The Ginsberg Family Artist-in-Residence Program was established in 2003 with a gift from Stuart Ginsberg’82 and his wife, Lisa, in order to bring distinguished artists to campus to teach, conduct workshops, and perform or exhibit works.


Laura Davis

2017 Spring

Laura Davis is a Chicago-based artist, who works in sculpture, drawing, and installation. She explores the intersection of craft, art, and design. Davis holds a MFA from the University of Chicago and a BFA from the Cleveland Institute of Art. She teaches in the Department of Contemporary Practices at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.


Andrew Sendor

2014 Fall

New York-based artist Andrew Sendor earned his B.F.A. from the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, N.Y., with additional studies in Australia. His works have been shown recently in solo gallery exhibitions in New York, Los Angeles, and Copenhagen. Recent museum group exhibitions have been held at the ARKEN Museum of Art in Ishøj, Denmark (2007); the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art in Kansas City, Mo. (2007); the Knoxville Museum of Art in Knoxville, Tenn. (2008); the Hudson Valley Center for Contemporary Art in Peekskill, N.Y. (2010); and the Funen Art Museum in Odense, Denmark (2011). Sendor’s works are in private and public collections worldwide.


Aunrico Gatson

2013 Spring

Aunrico Gatson received a master of fine arts degree from the Yale School of Art and a bachelor degree from Bethel College in St. Paul, Minn. Gatson has participated in numerous exhibitions at venues including Momenta Art in Brooklyn, N.Y., the Brooklyn Museum of Art, and Ronald Feldman Fine Arts in New York City. He was an Artist-in-Residence at Franconia Sculpture Park in St. Paul, Minn.


Emily Eveleth

2010 Fall

Emily Eveleth is widely known for her paintings of jelly doughnuts. In fact, The Boston Globe wrote about this fascination in a 2008 article called “It’s time to paint the doughnuts.” She has had over 20 solo shows in museums and galleries on the East Coast, and received masters’ degrees from Smith College and the Massachusetts College of Art.


David Opdyke

2009 Spring

David Opdyke earned a bachelor of fine arts in painting and sculpture from the University of Cincinnati. His work has appeared in many individual and group exhibitions at galleries and museums including Washington D.C.’s Corcoran Gallery of Art and Chicago’s Hyde Park Arts Center. His work was on display in the summer of 2012 at the Bryce Wolkowitz Gallery in New York City


Dario Robleto

2008 Spring

Dario Robleto is a conceptual artist who lives and works in San Antonio, Texas. He is known for creating intricately handcrafted objects that reflect his passion for music, popular culture, science, war, and American history. Robleto received his bachelor of fine arts from the University of Texas at San Antonio and has served as an artist-in-residence at several institutions including the Frye Art Museum in Seattle, the California Institute of the Arts in Valencia, and Loyla Marymount in Los Angeles.


Vitaly Komar

2008 Spring

Vitaly Komar is a Russian-born painter and performance artist who moved to New York in the 70s. He attended the Moscow Art School, followed by the Stroganov Institute of Art and Design in Moscow. Komar’s work has been shown in over two dozen solo and group exhibitions at international galleries and museums including the Louvre in Paris. He was also one of the founders of the Sots Art movement (soviet Pop/Conceptual art) and a pioneer of multi-stylistic post-modernism.


Christopher Sperandio

2003 Fall

Christopher Sperandio is a comic book and public artist who teaches painting and drawing at Rice University in Houston, Texas. He is the creator and executive producer of ARTSTAR, a reality television series based in the New York art world, airing internationally and in the United States on GalleryHD (part of the VOOM Network), and he is a founding member of KartoonKings, a media company engaged in the production of comic books, animations, and films. He holds a master of fine arts degree from the University of Illinois-Chicago.
