Senegal Visiting Student Program

Study at the ACI Baobab Center in Dakar!

  • Spring semester starting in 2011
  • Curriculum:
    • Dakar in Transition course, studying the city where you live (1 Beloit unit)
    • Wolof language (1 Beloit unit)
    • History of Islam (.75 Beloit Units)
    • Senegalese Literature: Culture, Gender and Politics (1 Beloit unit)
  • Housing is with a host family in Dakar
  • Costs: Beloit College tuition, room and board, the Beloit activities fee, $50 overseas administrative fee, and a $90 wellness fee.
  • Eligibility:
    • Five semesters of college-level French, or the equivalent
    • One or more courses relating to African history, society, culture, politics or the like
  • Program highlights: Live in a developing country, learn Senegalese perspectives on your fields of study, stay with a host family in Dakar, increase your French fluency in an African setting, gain basic skills in Wolof, enroll in one or more courses with experiential learning components
