Germany Exchange Program

Students study with German students at a university that is both one of Germany’s newest and oldest institutions of higher education.

  • Academic year or spring semester
  • Curriculum:
    • Orientation course: intensive German before the start of the spring semester
    • German as a second language at various levels, with some courses related to specific disciplinary area
    • University courses in humanities, social science, and education
    • Language of instruction for most courses: German, with a minority in EnglishUniversity of Erfurt Library

  • Housing is in one of nine residence halls on or near the campus with German or other international students. Breakfast and lunch are available on campus. Cooking facilities in residence halls vary.
  • Costs: Beloit College tuition, the Beloit activities fee, $50 overseas administrative fee, and a $90 wellness fee. Students pay Erfurt University for their room, and purchase or cook their own meals.
  • Eligibility:
    • Two years of college German (or equivalent) required
    • Coursework related to Germany in history, politics and literature, etc.
  • Program highlights: Full immersion in German language and culture, interdisciplinary studies that stress social and cultural perspectives in a region rich in historical archives, museums and study centers.
