Programming Grants

Call for Proposals

Using the lens of human rights and social justice, the Weissberg Program at Beloit College inspires and empowers students to take informed action to address complex global problems.

Proposals are accepted from students, staff, and faculty.

Programming funded by the Weissberg Program has included film series, lectures, panel discussions (all held on the Beloit College campus) as well as participation off-campus in actions supporting human right and social justice.

Priority is given to activities that tie into one or more courses and/or promise to reach multiple audiences. All programming must be promote one or more of the Weissberg Program’s desired learning outcomes.

Proposals should include:

  1. Names of individual(s) who will coordinate the activity, their role(s), and brief description of qualifications
  2. Description of the activity
  3. Rationale for the activity, including intended outcomes/impacts. Note: Please refer to the program’s desired learning outcomes and strategies.
  4. The intended audience or participants in the activity.
  5. Timeline
  6. Itemized budget and budget narrative

Budget guidelines

Budget requests normally include honoraria, guest expenses (RT travel, meals), publicity (posters/flyers), and small, modestly-priced group meals that foster conversation with the speaker.

Honoraria normally range from $250-$500, but may exceed this amount if the guest is particularly prominent and/or has a standard speaking/appearance fee.

A report on funded activities is due within one month of the activity’s completion.

Note: Proposals from faculty involving travel with students will only be accepted if the students will actively contribute to the design and implementation of the activity, as opposed to being the targets of the activity. That is, they must be active partners, for example, serving in the role of teaching or research assistant.
