About the Impact Beloit Concierge Internship Program
Introduction
Students are overseen by the Executive Director of Impact Beloit as well as at least one Beloit College alum.
An internship placement with any of the companies participating in this program will be extremely valuable for your skill and career development. As a Concierge Intern, you will gain valuable, hands-on experience working on projects integral to the operations of the business and develop and hone your professional skills. You will develop professionally through on the job experience, as well through faculty/staff and alumni advising and peer-to-peer sharing. The internship will give you excellent experience as you pursue future career paths and navigate future jobs.
- Students must commit to 8-10 hours per week.
- The interns will make market rate pay ($18-$20/hr).
- Positions generally run for entire academic years, subject to all school breaks (fall, winter, and spring breaks).
- Be a junior or senior.
- Be able to work at least 8 and ideally 10 hours per week.
- Demonstrate a history of responsible, highly dependable behavior.
Interested students should send their resume and a cover letter explaining why they are dependable, as well as how you can work 8-10 hours per week, to the Executive Director of Impact Beloit.
The top candidates who meet the requirements will be interviewed by the Executive Director and, potentially, another faculty or staff, and a representative from the company to which you are applying.
Interns will attend check-in sessions every other week with the Executive Director of Impact Beloit. On alternating weeks, interns will meet with their alumni mentor.
At the check-in sessions, interns will share updates on their projects, challenges, and successes and receive feedback and guidance from faculty/staff, alumni, and peers.
Check-ins will help interns reflect on what they’ve learned, learn from alumni and their peers’ experiences, and receive feedback that helps them perform better.
The default is that interns will be compensated (at a competitive market rate) for the internship but do not receive course credit; however, it is possible that one of the internships will not be for pay. In that case, interns would receive a one-unit course credit for each term.
If you seek course credit, you will register for a PRAX 270 course with the Executive Director and complete two to three reflection papers (which you will discuss with your alumni mentor, the Executive Director) over the term for each course credit.
