Writing on Two Wheels

May 28, 2019
By Chuck Lewis

Eight students in the 2019 Beloit Summer Blocks course "Writing on Two Wheels" are combining creative writing with bicycling to explore the community of Beloit and the area beyond it. The pedaling poets are stopping at a variety of field destinations for "plein air" writing exercises. This ride, led by English Professor Chuck Lewis, took them on a 20-mile loop west of town to Beckman Mill.

Summer Blocks

Learning doesn't stop in the summer. Each year, summer blocks courses offer participants the opportunity to immerse themselves in a fascinating topic, work closely with exceptional professors, fulfill various requirements, and earn 1 unit of college credit. During 3 weeks students and faculty engage deeply with issues in a way that is often not possible in the regular academic year when they need to balance multiple classes and commitments.
