Gina Tai’s Performing Gender class has a Milwaukee performance coming up on Wednesday, May 4, at 7 p.m. that will have students leading one of Hamburger Mary’s famed “HAMBingo” events and performing alongside the pros at one of the HM’s drag performances. The performance, which is open to the Beloit community, will be the culmination of a semester-long class and will follow the class drag show scheduled for Friday, April 29, at 10 p.m. at C-Haus (put that one on your calendar too!). The top two to three performances at the C-Haus show will be repeated at Hamburger Mary’s in Milwaukee. Why go? Gina Tai, full time adjunct assistant professor in TDMS, says attendees will see students performing alongside professional drag performers while also having the experience of “getting their feet into an LGBTQ community outside of campus.” Attendees will pay $10 to play bingo and have to cover the cost of a standard meal. RSVP now if you want to attend and would like college-provided transportation (if there is enough interest, transportation will be provided).
