On Thursday, Feb. 4, Beloit College's Department of Athletics learned college had received quite an honor. Beloit was recognized with the January Division III Diversity Spotlight Initiative.

The award was granted by the NCAA in recognition of the college's work with inclusive and diverse practices and programming, including its involvement with Black Lives Matter Beloit (#BLMB).

The award comes with a $500 prize to be used towards future initiatives.

According to head volleyball coach Dawn Redd, who nominated the college for the award:

"I applied because we have such a strong dedication to diversity initiatives, evidenced by our strong faculty/staff/student infrastructure." She said the prize will be pointed toward the ongoing work occurring on campus, though a specific use has not yet been determined.
