Beloiters earn funds for fall semester study abroad stints

Three Beloiters have been awarded the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship to help support study abroad during the fall 2014 semester.

They are as follows:

  • Madeleine Hallberg’16 of Forest Lake, Minn., will travel to Morocco to study elements of Moroccan textile design and how globalization impacts the textile industry.
  • Milica Mihajlovic’16 of Darien, Ill., will study literature and history in Russia.
  • Rikako Nishimura’16 of Nutley, N.J., will study veganism and the Russian language in Moscow.

Established by the International Academic Opportunity Act of 2000, the Gilman Scholarship Program offers awards for undergraduate study abroad. The scholarship provides awards for U.S. undergraduate students who are receiving Federal Pell Grant funding at a two-year or four-year college or university to participate in study and intern abroad programs worldwide.
