Girls and Women in Science - April 5 & 6

Tuesday, April 2, 2013

GWISThere's a special event happening this weekend, and it brings a younger group to campus to view firsthand the wonders of science and math and the experience of the Beloit College community.

Beginning at 4 p.m. on Friday, April 5, the award- winning Girls and Women in Science conference will convene a group of sixth grade girls, their science teachers, and parents to engage in experiments and activities. The goal is to help to build confidence and encourage interest in the fields of science and math. Labs such as "Playing With Food," "Virtual Friends With Alice," and "What Your Brain Does For You" are planned for Saturday, with the Beloit College scientific community (faculty, students, and alumnae) teaching and encouraging participants who attend the event.

More information is available on the conference website.

The weekend is supported by Beloit College and Kerry Ingredients.
