Beloit’s Roy Chapman Andrews Society has selected a renowned zoologist as its Distinguished Explorer for 2016. He is Dr. Alan Rabinowitz, an American called by Time Magazine the “Indiana Jones of Wildlife Conservation.”

Noted poet, songwriter, activist, and humorist Boots Riley will speak and read from his latest book Tell Homeland Security We Are the Bomb will deliver the 2016 Duffy Lecture at Beloit College. Riley’s appearance will take place on Thursday, April 7, at 8 p.m. in the Wilson Theater of Oscar Mayer Hall on campus. The event is free and open to the public.

This year’s Weissberg Week is focused on the rights of children worldwide—but also, very specifically, here in the Stateline area. Susan Bissell, the 2016 Weissberg Chair in International Studies, will deliver her keynote lecture on “The Rights of the Child” at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 30, in Eaton Chapel. All events during Weissberg Week are free and open to the public.

This spring, poet and novelist George Dawes Green, founder of the oral storytelling sensation, The Moth, will hold the 2016 Lois and Willard Mackey Chair in Creative Writing at Beloit College. During his stay, he will also bring his popular series, and three special guests, to Beloit’s Eaton Chapel for a storytelling event.
