    On Tuesday, Aug. 28, Beloit College will welcome 59 area high school students from southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois as Porter Scholars. It is the largest class of its kind in the program’s approximately 50-year history.

    Beloit College will present a special exhibition of the lithographs of American artist George Bellows from Sept. 13 – Nov. 11 at the Wright Museum of Art. An opening reception is scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 19 at 6:30 p.m., followed by a lecture at 7 p.m. by distinguished New York art dealer and Bellows expert Franklin Riehlman.

    The Beloit Public Health Initiative (BPHI) has received a $1,000 grant from the Stateline Community Foundation to continue its work in the upcoming academic year. The initiative is dedicated to raising awareness and reducing sexually transmitted infections in Beloit and Rock County.

    The Beloit College community today is remembering and mourning the loss of one of its own—Dan Shea, an anthropology professor at the college since 1968. Shea passed away after a fall on Tuesday night, June 19, in Chile.

  • Wright Museum of Art receives $10,000 grant, provides community workshop

    The Wright Museum of Art has been awarded a $10,000 grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services for the assessment of its collection of oil paintings. Two senior painting conservators, David Marquis and Joan Gorman from the Midwest Art Conservation Center in Minneapolis, Minn., will conduct the review on campus from July 16 through July 20.
