Martha Dunegan has been a cello instructor at Beloit College for 34 years. She is an active performer in the state line area, and performs regularly with the Rockford Symphony Orchestra and the Whitewater String Quartet. She has been principal cellist in the Beloit Janesville Symphony, a cellist in the Minneapolis Civic Symphony,and cellist in the Mendelssohn Club Chamber Orchestra. Her teachers have been Josef Schroetter (formerly with the Boston Pops Orchestra), Lowell Creitz (formerly with the Pro Arte String Quartet of the UW-Madison), Tony Elliot (former assistant principal cellist in the Minnesota Orchestra), and Parry Karp (present cellist in the Pro Arte String Quartet of the UW-Madison).Some former students have been in leadership positions in major orchestras. Dunegan received her Bachelors in Music degree from the UW-Madison and her Masters in Cello Performance from the UW-Madison.
