This spring Hannah Yee’19 has been working as project manager for the upcoming Beloit & Vicinity Exhibition, which opens May 27. This annual exhibition, now in its 60th year, features the work of approximately 30 regional artists.
Hannah, a museum studies minor, has worked at the Wright Museum for over a year. This winter she took charge of the exhibition, and has been working all semester with both the jurors and artists to bring the show together.
In addition to taking on the role of Beloit & Vicinity project manager, Hannah is also curating a show in the Wanda Hollensteiner Gallery that will highlight 60 years of the Beloit & Vicinity, one of the oldest, continuous juried art exhibition in Wisconsin. Included works come from the Wright’s permanent collection, past participating artists, and local collections.
Art history major and museum studies minor Mieke Miller’17 is also working on curating a summer show for the Wright Museum. Her exhibition, Artists and Alumni will be mounted in the Neese Gallery, and coincides with this summer’s Reunion Weekend, June 9-12. The exhibition features works in the Wright Museum’s collection that were either created by or donated by Beloit College alumni. The exhibit is intended to highlight a few of the many ways alumni contribute to the Beloit College community. It is also a chance to celebrate some of the Beloiters who have gone on to have successful careers as artists, such as Warren Miller’60 and the late Ray Metzker’53.
Both exhibitions will be on display this summer, beginning May 27.
