House 2

House 2 was a rectangular pithouse with supports in the square corners. The pit was from 37" to 41" deep. Four secondary supports were found set in the walls, and there was a center post. The entrance faced east, and was short and narrow, and had two steps. A circular, adobe-lined  firepit, 1'-4" in diameter, was located in the center of the room. A second identical firepit was located behind the first, and may have been used as an ashpit. The floor and the lowermost 12" of the west wall only were plastered with adobe.

This house type is consistent with the San Francisco Phase of Mogollon culture, dating from AD 650 to 750.
