Jacob Williams ’11 started doing stand-up comedy at the beginning of his first year. His fellow students were very supportive and encouraged him to pursue his passion for telling jokes, even if it took a long time to figure out how to be funny consistently onstage. The stage time and joke-telling tools Williams first developed in his years at Beloit were super valuable in helping him build a career as a full-time comedian.
Williams remembers that, “During my time on campus I learned a lot of things from my experiences in classes, theater and extracurricular groups which I still use today. I would highly encourage anyone to consider Beloit as a place to find out what you love to do for fun and learn that you can follow your passion for long after college and maybe even make a living doing it.”
