Classes start, campus visitors, and social justice

The Writing Works space in the Library.Writing tutoring will operate with the new name of Writing Works and in its new location in the southeast corner of Morse Library’s first floor. The new space, with access to a study room and a designated sitting area, makes the space more conveniently located on campus and appealing for students and tutors alike.

Welcome back, Beloiters! It’s the first day of classes, and boy, do we have an exciting first week back!

It’s also an Admissions Winter Visit Day! We’re expected to host over 60 guests — including 26 prospective students and their families — over the course of the day, some of whom may even visit classes. Please do what you can to make our visitors see the best of Beloit!

Continuing the work of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Today is also the college’s MLK Convocation. The program, “Justice Unfinished: Standing on the Shoulders of Giants,” will focus on coming together to tackle the world’s current challenges relating to civil rights and social justice through the words and wisdom of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

You won’t want to miss this event, which begins in Eaton Chapel at 4 p.m. Students, faculty, staff, and community members are all invited. The keynote speaker is none other than our recently retired dean of students, Cecil Youngblood. You’ll also hear from Maddy Mathey’25, Jasmin Bowers’25, Upward Bound student Jy’Aire Woodfork, and President Eric Boynton.
