Preparing for the fall semester

Hello Beloiters! Advising for the fall 2024 semester starts on March 27 and runs through the start of course registration on April 9.Take some time this week to work with your faculty advisor on your academic plan and find your courses for next semester.

Also consider summer programs and opportunities like the Center for Language Studies, the Center for Collections Care, and the Pakula Biomedical Fellowship program.

Schools office hours this week

Leaders of the college’s four new schools will be at the Powerhouse this week from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. to answer questions for current students. All students, regardless of major, may engage with schools in a variety of ways.

Representatives will be located at the table just outside the Bristo Keep at the Powerhouse. 

The college is creating the schools to help students build on the liberal arts curriculum by bringing career pathways to the center of students’ college experience, linking classes with career-focused advising and programming, pre-professional experiential learning opportunities, and specialized credentials.

Seniors: last chance for speaker and performances

Beloit College Senior Officers are searching for a student Commencement speaker who can inspire and represent the graduating class. If you know someone from the senior class with a compelling story, unique experiences, or a passion for motivating their peers, please nominate them, or self-nominate.

The Senior Class Officers also invite members of the Senior class to participate in the Beloit’s Got Talent event shortly before Commencement. Whether you are a singer, dancer, musician, magician, comedian, or more, it’s your last chance to share the stage before you go your separate ways.

  • Baseball split wins with the Cornell Rams over a two-day series, winning two of three games.
  • Women’s Lacrosse fell to the North Central Cardinals, 11-5.
  • Men’s lacrosse couldn’t overcome the Carroll Pioneers, falling 13-4.
  • Softball came up short in both of their games against Carthage.


Beloit holds 38th annual Business Networking Summit

Forty economics and business students visited downtown Chicago for Beloit’s Business Networking Summit. Students experienced a behind-the-scenes tour of Dyson, two alumni panels, and one-on-one networking opportunities.

Future public policy leader

Martu aspires to apply to law programs and master's programs in public policy.

Martu Kollie’24 traversed the country to the University of Washington for its Junior Summer Institute, learning about public policy through seven-week courses in economics, quantitative methods, policy analysis, and contemporary global issues. “There are lots of nuances playing into policy making,” she says.

Nominate for Beloit Leadership Awards

Students are invited to recognize their peers and other members of the campus community for their leadership. Submit your nominations by April 1. Each nomination for the ten awards is an entry into a raffle. The awards ceremony will be held on April 30.

Be a Reading Buddy

Looking for something new and fun? Looking to support the Beloit community? Perfect! Volunteer reading to children at Todd Elementary on Tuesdays for the last weeks of the semester. Complete the interest form to get started.

Lifeguard Certification Class

This two-day class on April 6 and 7 will address CPR, first aid, and working in the pool. Open to both new and re-certifying lifeguards. Cost for the course is $175. Registration is required by noon on April 1.
