Student Mentor for Beloit Summer Academy
The Beloit Summer Academy is a pre-college program aimed at high school students age 16 and older who want to get an immersive introduction to Beloit College and a residential liberal arts experience. Participants spend two weeks on the Beloit College campus, June 18th - July 1st, taking a course that combines classroom workshops with excursions and informal activities designed around a common theme.
Position Purpose:
Mentors are the primary adult contact for each participant for the duration of the 2-week summer program. The Mentors will receive training in the week prior to the program, and live with the student participants during the duration of the program. The Mentor is responsible for providing learning opportunities and activities for support students outside of the classroom, as well as tending to personal needs, supervision for the health and safety of participants, and assistance with disciplinary issues.
Position starts June 14th to allow for preparation and required training.
