Academic Diversity and Inclusiveness Programs

Academic diversity and inclusiveness programs use an equity asset-based approach to student development and learning that helps students succeed in college by focusing on the assets (lived experiences, skills, and mindsets) that students bring with them to college.

The programs housed under this division specialize in working with those who are first-generation college students (those whose parent(s) or main guardian(s) do not have a fouryear degree), from low-income backgrounds, from underrepresented minority communities in higher education, identify as LGBTQ+, are undocumented, and/or those who have documented disabilities.

Through targeted programming and resources in the form of workshops, classes, one-on-one academic counseling, mentoring, research and summer opportunities, and grant aid, students learn how to take ownership of their college education and experience.
