Hope Smith-Taylor

What would you like to accomplish as a student senator at Beloit?

As a student senator, I would like to accomplish a change within Beloit with the way things are run. I would like for the students to be able to feel like they are heard and that they are getting the things they are asking for from their school. If I can do that for them and be that voice for them then I would love to be that change.

What is your favorite thing about Beloit?

My favorite things about Beloit College are the people and the sense of community you get with going to Beloit. The connections you make with the faulty/staff and fellow students are something you will have for the rest of your life.

What makes you laugh the most?

The things that make me laugh the most are honestly memes and TikTok. I just think that is the way today’s society is set up, but nothing cracks me up more than the wonderful people I love the most.

What motivates you to work hard?

What motivates me to work hard is my drive to change things and make the world a better place for all people, but especially for the people of color out there. I want to work hard so those people around me later in life don’t have to work that hard. I also work hard because I want to be the best version of myself that I possibly can be. So my fear of failing is what motivates me to work hard.

Who's your hero?

My hero is my mother! My mother is the person who has always been there for me no matter what. She is the person who encourages me to do and be my best. She is my biggest cheerleader and my biggest critic. That is why my mom is my hero because she will always push me to be the best version of myself that I can possibly be.
