Kate Johnston is a historian of the Atlantic world who works on race, slavery, and the environment. She has published articles in Atlantic Studies and Early American Studies, and is currently finishing a book on race, labor, and climate in Anglo-American plantation societies. At Beloit, she teaches courses on the History of the Body in the Atlantic world; Native North America; Race and the American Environment; the Black Atlantic; Legacies of Slavery; and Health, Sickness, and Medicine in Early America.
