Career Peer Advisor
Career Peer Advisors support Career Development programming within the Career & Community Engagement Center. Enthusiasm and the ability to develop rapport with a wide diversity of people on campus are also key skills.
Career Peer Advisors will strengthen their abilities in the following areas:
Effective Communication: Career Peer Advisors will develop a full understanding and be able to articulate the goals, objectives, and programs of the Career & Community Engagement Center. They will act in adherence with professional standards and ethics and maintain confidentiality.
Creative Problem Solving: Career Peer Advisors provide advising and create resources for all areas of career development, including career and major exploration, internship and job searches, resume and cover letter writing, networking, and related career areas. They also play an instrumental role in updating and maintaining our Career Management System, Handshake.
Productive Collaboration: Career Peer Advisors interact with students, faculty, staff, alumni, parents, employers, and community partners in the course of their duties; however, they primarily serve students in a peer-advisor capacity.
Intellectually & Professionally Agility: Through this position the Career Peer Advisor will learn how to professionally communicate with a variety of audiences, take initiative on projects and be given the support to work independently,
and enhance their research and data analytics skills.
A student in this position can expect to work flexible hours per day, 8 hours per week.
