Community Based Learning Assistant
The Office of Community-Based Learning interfaces with students, faculty, staff, and community leaders both in Beloit and beyond to make experiential educational opportunities available. Students within this position should have significant experience with off-campus, experiential learning. They will be very organized and accountable and should be able to work independently and with a team. Enthusiasm and the ability to develop rapport with a wide diversity of people both on and off campus are also key skills. The CBL Assistant will strengthen their abilities in the following areas:
Effective Communication: The CBL Assistant will communicate with the Director of Community Based Learning and with faculty, students, alumni, and community partners to assist in facilitating experiential educational opportunities. This work will be done by leading funding workshops and organizing student-alumni events.
Creative Problem Solving: The CBL Assistant will assist in the coordination of the Duffy Program and Colloquium and lead off campus opportunities. They will also assist in finding creative ways to gather information from students and
write stories for use on our website.
Productive Collaboration: The CBL Assistant will coordinate with the larger Career & Community Engagement Center staff including professional staff, paraprofessional staff, and students to provide assistance with the wider endeavors of the Center.
Intellectually & Professionally Agility: Through this position the CBL Assistant will learn how to professionally communicate with a variety of audiences, take initiative on projects and be given the support to work independently, and enhance their research and data analytics skills.
A student in this position can expect to work flexible hours per day, 8 hours per week.
