Dana M Carlson

Dana, soprano, has sung with Fresco Opera Theatre, Red River Lyric Opera, Druid Opera City Workshop, the South Dakota Symphony Orchestra, the University of South Dakota, the Central Wisconsin Symphony Orchestra, and the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point in roles such as Beauty in Vittorio Giannini’s opera Beauty and The Beast, Adele (Die Fledermaus), Susanna (Le Nozze di Figaro), Adina (L’Elisir d’Amore), Ms. Pinkerton (The Old Maid and the Thief). Other operatic experience includes opera scene work as Blanche (A Streetcar Named Desire), both the First and Second Ladies (Die Zauberflöte), and Beth (Little Women).

Most recently, Ms. Carlson has sung First Lady in Fresco Opera Theatre’s world premiere of Queen of the Night; an origin story on Mozart’s character of the same name, as well as community outreach and engagement tours/events. Busy on-stage and in the classroom, Ms. Carlson is currently teaching at Beloit College and in Milwaukee at the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music. She has experience teaching at the middle school, high school, collegiate, and adult levels in the choral rehearsal, classroom, and private lesson environments. Working with a variety of genres at all levels, Ms. Carlson strives to create a learning environment that is positive, individualized, challenging, and engaging. Ms. Carlson received her Master of Music from the University of South Dakota in Vocal Performance, and her Bachelor of Music from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point in Choral Music Education and Vocal Performance.
