After graduating, Burke spent a few years directing in Chicago and London. She then became a teacher and is currently Head of Drama and Theatre Studies at a leading independent girls’ school in London. Burke sits on the advisory board of a London-based applied theatre company. She believes her time at Beloit was crucial in her development as a theatre maker.
Burke holds that, “The Beloit College Theatre and Dance program encouraged me to lead independent directing projects and compete in the American College Theatre Festival. These experiences were invaluable in laying the foundations for my career. I also had an excellent support network from my professors that helped me hone my artistic skills. The Beloit College Theatre program also has an academic focus, which I found useful in my teaching and masters studies. The department is an exciting and nurturing program that helps its students succeed.”
