Research Interests

Dr. Paul McCombs has been teaching college mathematics for over 20 years. He has been honored by the Illinois Section of the MAA with the Distinguished College or University Teaching of Mathematics Award, Rock Valley College’s Faculty of the Year Award, Illinois Mathematics Association of Community College’s Teaching Excellence Award and the Illinois Civil Air Patrol’s Brewer Award for Aerospace Education and STEM.

His current research interests include student understanding of series and sequences, teacher education and pedagogy, as well as high school student success in college courses.

He has served on the Illinois Section of the MAA Board, the IMACC Board as well as a Past President of IMACC, NIATM Board and Past President of NIATM. He remains involved with IMACC and the national American Mathematical Association of Two Year Colleges.
