[SOCI 211] Research Methods

An introduction to the principal research strategies available to sociologists. This class focuses on three methods: qualitative observation, qualitative interviewing, and quantitative surveying. Class members think about the underlying philosophy and logic of each method, as well as the quality of data gathered by each method. Students will design and carry out a research project involving data collection and analysis with each of the research methods.
