Selene Castrucci with Callen-Lourde colleagues.While majoring in Health & Society and Geology at Beloit College, Selene Castrucci’17 took advantage of multiple opportunities to put her education to practice with the aim, post-graduation of working to advance health equity. Her college years included serving as a resident assistant and interning at the Rock County Health Department, where she focused on lead poisoning. Selene also coordinated the Beloit College student-led Beloit Public Health Initiative. Grants from from the Weissberg Program in Human Rights and Social Justice allowed Selene to work with Unite for Sight in Chennai, India in the summer after her sophomore year, and later to intern at the Treatment Action Campaign in South Africa.
Today, Selene works for the Callen-Lourde Community Health Center in New York City.
