Dasheem Jarrett-Jones’09 helps ensure that Native Americans have good health and wellness.

Dasheema Jarret-Jones’09, a proud native of Janesville, WI and a Health and Society major, works as a Public Health Advisor for the  Centers for Disease Control,

A key turning point in Dasheema’s studies at Beloit was traveling to Nicaragua with Prof. Nancy Krusko (Anthropology) and fellow students to explore connections between health, poverty, and women’s empowerment. After obtaining a master’s degree in sociology at Howard University and interning at Johns Hopkins University, Dasheema began her career with the Center for Disease Control, working first in Montana, then in West Virginia, and now in Atlanta. She also serves in the CDC crisis group, attending to health emergencies around the world.
