Sara Bowen, an Economics major, is an Assistant Corporate Controller at Roadrunner Transportation Systems. She works in a team of six people to manage day to day accounting of corporate entities, account reconciliation and journal. She is also in charge of developing internal control processes around fixed assets and global policies for the firm. Her advice to people interested in accounting is to look into the Master’s Program to prepare for the CPA exam. Even though classes don’t teach everything you need in the field, you will be able to acquire basic accounting skills.
