Phone home and everywhere else
As August draws to a close, a telephonic transformation is taking place across the campus.
No, Beloiters weren’t actually using dial phones. But the old analog phones are no longer sitting on every desk as a reminder of a technology that is rapidly becoming obsolete. New digital phones and calls that travel over the Internet rather than on telephone poles and wires arrived with a bang. The new system uses Voice Over Internet Protocol (or simply VOIP) to deliver enhanced features and improved clarity for calls.
