Blue Skies awardee Devin Pittman brightens Beloit campus

The longstanding Blue Skies award, selected by Student Life staff recognizes a senior who fosters good cheer and humor and brings a light touch to Beloiters’ everyday lives.

Devin Pittman’23, from Chicago, has shone his brightness on campus since day one.

His smile, contagious laughter, and the endless energy he shows for every Beloiter have earned Devin the 2023 Warren Miller Blue Skies award.

“Devin is that student everyone knows and feels connected to,” says one nominator. “He has added so much to the Beloit College community, and there will be a hole left when he is gone.”

The longstanding Blue Skies award, selected by Student Life staff recognizes a senior who fosters good cheer and humor and brings a light touch to Beloiters’ everyday lives.

Devin Pittman Devin also helped students find their space on campus. As the SAGA (Sexuality and Gender Alliance) president, Devin advocated for programming and support for the college’s LGBTQIA+ community.

And when new students arrived on campus, Devin was their energetic orientation leader, giving them guidance and offering support. Devin also jumped into action as Phi Kappa Psi philanthropy chair and served as Black Students United’s vice president.

It’s no wonder that Theta Pi Gamma gave Devin the “Sweeter Than Candy” award. The talented senior was awarded the Ellen Malsch Memorial Prize in Art and a SEAL leadership award for organizing outstanding events.

“Devin is always full of jokes and never stops telling it like it is, but with his honesty comes a presence that makes students gravitate toward him,” says one nominator.

As a final gift to his classmates, Devin organized a spectacular Senior Week event so they left with great memories.

Devin, a studio art major and theatre minor, will no doubt continue to illuminate the world with plans to open a Chicago-based wedding planning business.
