Beloit College selects Eric Boynton as the 12th College President

Class of 2021: Ben Jensen (Tacoma, WA)

Ben Jensen, a Quantitative Economics major from Tacoma, WA, will be completing a one-year Master of Science in Business Analytics at the W.P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University. “I found the program while searching for graduate school opportunities to further pursue a career in data science. My search and choice were influenced strongly by my advisor Professor Diep Phan and Beloit College alumni including Elom Goka (’14), Thomas Slusher (’12), Robert Robie (’00), and Stopher Bartol (’88).”

Ben discovered his passion for data science at Beloit [just a tad too early - check our new Data Analytics and Data Science majors!]. “I’m excited about the possibilities after the program. I will have a really versatile skill set.” As part of his program, he’ll be learning higher level data mining tools. In the spring semester, Ben will complete an applied project where he uses analytics techniques in a real-world business setting for a company.

Ben has experience working on projects for clients as a manager for Belmark Associates, a student-run market research firm at Beloit College. Other opportunities that have prepared Ben for success include his Business Analytics course with Professor Disha Shende and career development events such as Econ day, a workshop with Aaron Bauhs (’05, Associate Partner at IBM Consulting), and a data science book club with Brandi Beals (’09, Manager, Data Analytics at Artisan Partners). Congratulations, Ben!
