Museum Monday: Students re-establish Museum Club
One of the unique assets of Beloit College is the campus’ two teaching museums – the Logan Museum of Anthropology and the Wright Museum of Art – and a robust college archive. These in turn are supported by a strong museum studies program. This year, museum studies students Emma Adams’21 and Lauren Woolf’21 re-established the Museum Club to continue their interest in museums outside the classroom. Museum Club was originally created as a way for students with a passion for museums to gather and discuss current issues, visit museums, practice museum related skills, and expand their community beyond Beloit.
This year, Museum Club has held a number of events, including a game of Kahoot. This winter, putting their classroom learning into practice, club members curated two display cases on the second floor at the Wright Museum of Art. Plans for this semester include a field trip to Milwaukee to visit a number of the city’s museums. Additionally, club members are talking about hosting museum themed events on campus.
Museum Club meets at 7 p.m. every other Tuesday in Java Joint. For more information email Emma Adams at adamser@beloit.edu.
