Finding your own voice
On Oct. 14 the Business and Entrepreneurship Channel had Alum Anthony Crivello ’14 talk about marketing and communications.
Currently Anthony is the Marketing and Communications Coordinator at Generac in Waukesha, WI. Generac is a company that manufactures home standby portable generators and battery and solar storage. Anthony’s main responsibilities include creating content on social media whether it’s a video, photo, or slideshow.
While at Beloit Anthony received a B.A. in Media Studies and Communications. But some courses that help him the most in his role today were Econ 101, Entrepreneurship, and all of the classes held at the studio ranging from Broadcast Production, and Intro to Mass Media. During his time at Beloit, Anthony and a fellow classmate had the opportunity to be the play-by-play commentators after Joe Davis who is now the voice of the Los Angeles Dodgers and Zach Poelker who is a digital writer for a renowned digital sports company in St. Louis.
Anthony advised students that are interested in digital marketing and communications to find their own voice when creating content. He also mentioned that staying up to date with trends is really important in the digital marketing and communications world. Anthony ended his remarks by saying that you don’t need bulky cameras, or huge production studios to get started. All you need is a phone, tripod, maybe a microphone, and then you are all set.
