Alumni Advice: Emma Koeppel ’16
Job: Environmental Education Site Manager at the School District of Waukesha’s Environmental Education Center
Major: Environmental Geology and Biology Majors
Typical job responsibilities: Providing environmental education for K-8 students by offering field experiences. Job responsibilities include managing budgets, scheduling staff and buses, preparing and repairing equipment, and caring for live animals.
Typical challenges of the work: One of the challenges we face daily is unpredictability. Another challenge we face is in regard to expanding our program. When we talk about reaching students with more frequency we run into issues such as lack of financial support. The school schedule sometimes gets very difficult to apply into the program and because the education is for K-8 students, communication skills and patience plays a big role in the work.

Advice for current Beloit College students: Be open to the unexpected.
