Smart Buildings Presentation at Student Symposium

Noel Jones’19 presented their research on smart buildings at Student Symposium, combining fluid mechanics, computer-aided design, and 3-D printing.

Student Symposium gives students the opportunity to present their research to students, staff, faculty and alumni.

Noel’s interest in sustainability lead them to this project, designing and 3-D printing pipes of different sizes and measuring fluid flow rates through those pipes. A double major in Physics and Mathematics and a minor in English, and a campus activist, they also organized a clothing drive for trans students, delivered supplies to the Water Protectors at Standing Rock, and competed in prose poetry and flash fiction contests.
