Emily Johnson (IR - Class of ’13)

Emily Johnson spent her junior year studying abroad in Uganda and Botswana. Back in Beloit, she served as a teaching assistant and a research assistant. She wrote her senior honors thesis on the politics of land policy formulation in Uganda and Botswana, which was published in the Journal of Undergraduate International Studies.

After her graduation, Emily used funding from the Weissberg program to return to Uganda, where she worked on a USAID project, Tourism for Biodiversity. She joined Relief International in March 2014 and served in Kenya, South Sudan, Bangladesh, and Cameroon. Emily now works in Afghanistan as the program director for Relief International.
