Business & Institutional Travel Policy

Business travel to international areas designated by the CDC as Level 3 or higher is prohibited.
Other restrictions may occur through actions by local, state, and national governments. Travel within the United States should conform to the travel-to state guidelines.


Essential institutional travel must be approved by the senior staff member to whom your unit reports, taking into account the following criteria:

  • Goals cannot be met through other, including virtual means.

  • The employee has voluntarily agreed to travel.

  • Approval has been received from the individuals or groups to be visited.

  • Forms of transportation that minimize close contact with others are utilized wherever possible.

  • Adherence to all personal protective practices required on campus, including physical distancing and the wearing of masks or face coverings, is expected throughout travel.

  • Employees must provide a negative COVID-19 test result prior to return to campus from travel. On-campus testing can be scheduled with Tara Girard, Director of the Health and Wellness Center.

  • College vehicle use will be subject to the following capacity limits:

    • Cars: driver only

    • Seven-passenger vans: driver plus one passenger only

    • 12 passenger vans: driver plus two passengers only
