“Prorated Reduction of Room & Board” Letter sent to Beloit Students & Parents
Dear Beloit College Students and Parents,
On March 14, 2020, Scott Bierman shared the news that we would complete this semester with all courses taught at a distance. In that message, he explained that all students no longer staying in the residence halls and using their meal plans due to COVID-19 will receive a prorated reduction for spring room and board.
The Financial Services Office is now processing those reductions, and a credit will be posted to your student account by Friday, April 17, 2020. If you have an outstanding balance on your student account, the credit adjustment will be applied against the balance you owe to the college. If the reduction in room and board results in an overpayment on your student account, you are due a refund. Refunds will be processed no later than Friday, May 1, 2020.
If you are due a refund, you have four options available to you. Please fill out the Beloit College Room and Board Refund Option Form no later than Wednesday, April 8, 2020 to let us know which of the following four options you prefer:
- I want Beloit College to apply my refund to my 2020-21 student account balance.
- I want Beloit College to keep my refund and reduce my student loans.
- I want Beloit College to send me the refund via check or direct deposit.
- I want to donate my refund to the Beloit College Annual Fund, 100% of which goes to student financial aid.
Please note: Continuing students who do not select a refund option by Wednesday, April 8, 2020 will have the overpayment applied to their 2020-21 student account balance. Graduating seniors who do not complete the form will receive a refund payment.
Also, note that students who received approval to remain on campus this semester continue to have access to their rooms and the meal plan and thus are not eligible for reimbursement.
Please contact the Financial Services Office at email@example.com with your questions or concerns. All of us in your Beloit College community are here to support you. We wish you and your family well during this time of uncertainty.
