Human Centered Design Thinking will be taught by a Beloit Executive in Residence who is a senior product designer and Beloit College graduate from the class of 2006. This first-module course focuses on key methods that UX designers, researchers, data scientists, and product strategists use to collaborate. The inherently interdisciplinary practice of human centered design thinking draws on psychology, anthropology, writing, economics, art, data science, and ethics, and students from any major (or undeclared!) are invited to join. Through practical activities and discussion of technology decision implications, you will develop a human centered design mindset for your own interdisciplinary work.
UX Design: Interactive Design will be taught by George Williams. This full semester course teaches students about the principles of user experience design, or “making the user’s experience with the product the best it can be.” The design solutions in this course will include functionality and usability, and will encompass systems of organization, technology, design and educational tools. Students in this course will be introduced to the process of UX Design which will include but not be limited to, intuitive navigability, and testing. Students from any major are welcome if they have taken one studio art course.
