Field Experience Grant Program
Beloit College believes that the best education is the one which allows you to apply what you learn in the classroom to the real world. These hands-on experiences will engage your imagination and curiosity and teach you the skills to approach the complex problems of the work ethically and thoughtfully. This is why Beloit College developed the Field Experience Grant.
Eligible first year students will receive up to $2000 to develop a qualifying significant learning opportunity off-campus the summer after their first year. Over 150 Beloit College students have participated in this program. That means that there are over 150 unique stories to be told, lessons learned, and peers with whom you can connect.
What sets this program apart is the attention and support that you will receive as a FEG participant. The FEG program is a two-semester program where you meet with an assigned coach or peer mentor who help you develop your FEG project. You'll not only have an opportunity to explore your academic and co-curricular interests, but you will also develop important time management and proposal writing skills which prepare you to apply for future opportunities on and off campus.
The Field Experience is one way Beloit College invests in students. We want you to explore your world and to engage in your education. At the the Liberal Arts in Practice Center, we believe that you should plan a project that builds upon your strengths and past experiences and which allow you to grow, stretch, and challenge yourself. The focus is on the you and not what necessarily looks impressive on paper.
The FEG is flexible; you design the project and you determine the timeline and location. Your project can take you far from home or you can complete it in your own backyard. It depends on you. This is the liberal arts in practice. What will your learning adventure be?
