Recent Symantec Endpoint Protection Upgrade

July 19, 2012 at 10:38 am
The college recently upgraded Symantec Endpoint Protection to the newest version. The new version performs better and uses fewer resources. IT is in the process of upgrading all of the college owned computers in the classrooms and public labs to assure they are running up-to-date software before the start of the fall semester. For those of you with Windows systems, Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager will automatically upgrade most of your computers once the program is initiated by IT during the week of July 23. Once the upgrade is done, the program will prompt you to restart your computer. After restarting your computer you will need to register your antivirus program with the Symantec Endpoint Protection manager (IT will never ask for your password). This registration facilitates communication with you in case of virus/malware issues. Unfortunately, the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager is unable to upgrade the Macintosh computers automatically. The upgrade needs to be performed from each computer. If you feel comfortable upgrade your own computer, you may download the installation file by clicking here and then double-clicking on the downloaded file.
