The CIRP Surveys are a group of linked surveys developed by the Higher Education Research Institute at UCLA. Beloit College administers three of the surveys. The CIRP Freshman Survey is administered annually to all incoming Beloit First Years during New Student Days. The CIRP Your First College Year (YFCY) and the CIRP Senior Survey (CSS) are administered every three years in the spring. The YFCY allows us to research the transformations students undergo during their freshman year at Beloit (as measured on the TFS and YFCY). The CSS, distributed at the end of the senior year, helps us understand the impact of a Beloit education across all four years.
The surveys cover a wide range of student characteristics: parental income and education, ethnicity, and other demographic items; financial aid; academic achievement, engagement, and satisfaction; educational and career plans; and values, attitudes, beliefs, and self-concept.
The instruments (questionnaires) for all CIRP surveys are available on the Higher Education Research Institute's website.
The CIRP Your First College Year and College Senior Survey (CSS) were last administered at Beloit College in Spring 2015. They are expected to next be administered to freshmen and seniors during the Spring of 2018, with data expected to become available late in the calendar year.
Results are available upon request.
