Beloit College is seeking a Director of the Office of Summer Programs. The successful candidate will have the drive and vision necessary to coordinate and develop summer programming in the spirit of the mission of the College. We are seeking a capable administrator able to manage budgets, staff, and communications with various offices and programs across the campus. We are seeking a dynamic and creative individual to forge a strategic plan for, and vigorously engage in, student recruitment and marketing. We are seeking someone with a commitment to, and vision for, engaging and recruiting from diverse student populations, including minorities and other underserved groups. In short, we are seeking an individual who will lead Beloit College as we continue to develop and grow our summer programming.
The Director of the Office of Summer Programs provides the vision for, and strategic management of, both the Center for Language Studies and our three-week intensive Beloit Blocks program, the latter including both on-campus and international offerings. These programs are places of pedagogical innovation; excitement about, and understanding of, intensive language-learning pedagogy and innovations in different learning formats are desirable. The Director will also lead the development of future summer programming beyond these two established programs. The new Director of the Office of Summer Programs will begin the position in a period of great opportunity: while the CLS program is in its 34th year in 2017, the languages offered in CLS continue to evolve, and Beloit Blocks remains a young program whose identity is still being developed. The appropriate candidate must:
- have a passion for program building;
- create and manage budgets with precision;
- develop and enact aggressive student recruitment strategies;
- communicate effectively and work well with others;
- be able to juggle multiple tasks;
- understand the learning needs of diverse student populations;
- believe in the mission of Beloit College and understand the role that summer programs can play in that mission.
A bachelor’s degree is required. Experience in the administration of academic programs, budget management, student recruitment, and teaching are desirable. Knowledge of innovative and experiential teaching methods and foreign languages are also a plus.
