Share a little bit about your experience in the Duffy Community Partnership program with Hendricks Commercial Properties.
At Hendricks, I initially worked in the Asset Management department and learned a lot about lease contracts, spending most of my time on data extraction and organization. Later on, I was assigned a research project where I worked on preparing a presentation about various business intelligence software to analyze relative costs and benefits.
What was the biggest takeaway from your experience?
This experience has certainly helped me understand the nature of a professional work environment and the expectations of a real estate company. I have learned a lot more about the real estate industry during these past months (which is very valuable to me as an economics major). I also learned a lot about various business intelligence software which help in data analysis and visualization.
My overall experience as a Duffy student has been very positive (which should explain why I am doing it again this semester). I learned a lot of new things this year, not just through the readings we do in the Duffy class, but also through my experience at the site.
What have you found most interesting about the Duffy program?
The Duffy program was very useful in giving me a sense of what I should be expecting in the job market as I finish my undergraduate studies this year. It was also helpful working in the community and being able to see the practical implications of things that I have learned in the classroom. I was also impressed by how helpful and accommodating my supervisors (both on site and on campus) were in trying to ensure that my experience would provide me the best learning outcome.
After completing your program, what are you looking forward to most?
I am looking forward to completing my majors this year and applying to graduate school in economics! I am also looking forward to presenting my summer research in Blockade games later this semester.
