He set up the jazz band for rehearsals and performances and always did an excellent job. Jackson performed with the jazz band for four semesters and filled an invaluable position. For three semesters we did not have a piano player and Jackson was able to play solos and compliment the rhythm section by playing the vibes. The rhythm section was so strong that the audience did not realize that we were playing without a pianist. Jackson also worked for the music dept.
